For those looking to arrive in style for their marriage or just wanting to make a statement at the next gala event, a luxury stretch limousine may be an option.

ECO Rent-A-Car has launched a limousine service in Delhi and Mumbai, with charges that start from Rs 15,000 (for 2 hours and 20 km), going up to Rs 45,000 (8 hours/80 km). While there are already limos based on Skoda Octavia, or Ford Endeavour available, what gives ECO’s limousines the elite edge is that it is based on the Chrysler 300C, an American luxury saloon that is not sold in India.

“These limos have been built by a Chrysler authorised firm in the US, which we have imported at a cost of over Rs 1 crore. Most limos in India today are illegal as they do not meet the Government regulations on vehicle size,” said Rajesh Loomba at Managing Director, ECOS India Mobility & Hospitality.

The stretch limo can seat up to eight people in comfort and boasts of leather upholstery and a bar with a champagne chiller inside. There are three DVD screens for entertainment, while LED lights on the roof give the impression of a starry night.

Guests also get a red carpet welcome, and a window separates the cabin from the driver, ensuring privacy. Recent customers for the limousine include Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon and pop star Melissa Totten.

Interestingly though, ECO does not promote alcohol consumption inside. “We want to play it safe, so we don’t provide for it… guests can bring their own,” Loomba said.

ECO, which is present in nine cities and has tie-ups in 45 more, has about 800 cars on the road today. It also provides self-drive and armoured cars, with a range that includes a Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Toyota Corolla, going up to a Mercedes-Benz S Class.
