Ghasera village in Haryana’s Mewat district and several villages around Delhi will soon have a mobile healthcare van to cater to the marginalised communities here. Besides healthcare, the ‘doctor-on-wheels’ initiative is offering counselling sessions to help children deal with behavioural and emotional issues.
Launched this week by PwC India Foundation, along with its partner Bal Umang Drishya Sansthan, there will also be workshops on prevention of communicable diseases. “We aim to take healthcare to the doorstep of those who need it most. Each patient’s electronic health files will be preserved, and this will facilitate in-patient follow-up,” explains Jaivir Singh, Vice-chairman of the foundation.
Though service delivery and follow-up amongst a migrant population is a challenge, the van hopes to tackle healthcare needs and prevention for everyone, and especially concentrate on children from the pre-natal stage up to their adolescence. We could do with more such initiatives!
