There is a significant increase in the allocation for railway projects in Karnataka, according to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

Launching various railway-related projects for Karnataka – including the doubling of railway line between Mangaluru Central railway station and Netravathi Bridge in Mangaluru -- through video-conferencing facility on Friday, he said the UPA-2 regime had allocated ₹835 crore for Karnataka.

However, the NDA government allocated ₹2200 crore from 2014-17. That was an increase of 163 per cent when compared to the previous five years, he said.

Stating that Railways has made an allocation of ₹3174 crore for various projects in Karnataka for 2017-18, he said this is the highest ever allocation made to the state so far.
