ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a German automative sector player, has inaugurated its first technology centre here.
The centre will have 2,500 employees by 2020. It will invest €15 million over the next five years on technology infrastructure at the centre.
The centre will focus on electronics, embedded software and mechanical engineering skills. It will support ZF’s global development teams while enabling the company to accelerate local product development supporting ZF automotive and non-automotive operations and customers in India.
ZF Chief Executive Officer Stefan Sommer said the firm would strive to develop solutions to ensure safe routing and driving by gathering information from a variety of means. The centre would focus on development of electric, automated and connected technologies and would play a role in the digital transformation of ZF.
“We have zeroed in on Hyderabad after conducting a due diligence and after vying other options like Pune and Bengaluru. The Centre will be rapidly integrated into the engineering ecosystem of ZF,” Mamatha Chamarthi, Chief Digital Officer of ZF, said.
ZF, which announced plans to build the ITC in September 2016, completed the project in a few months and started operations. ZF’s India operations are headquartered at Pune’s ZF Business Park.
