Samsung Electronics India has revamped its flat-panel TV range with the launch of 44 new models on Tuesday. The company aims to sell about one million units of smart TVs with the launch of its 2016 line-up. This includes the new SUHD TV range at the top end, Smart TV range in the mid-segment and the Joy Beat range in the affordable segment, prices ranging from ₹28,000 to ₹24 lakh.

Rajeev Bhutani, Vice-President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung India, said: “We are looking to further strengthen our market leadership and aiming to grow faster than the market. At the premium end, we have a market share of about 46 per cent and with the new revolutionary launches we are targeting to take it to about 60 per cent.”

He said the company had introduced the Quantum Dot technology for best picture quality in the new SUHD range besides introducing “other meaningful innovations” in the Smart and Joy Beat ranges.

Bhutani said the company had seen double-digit growth in the panel TV segment in the first half and expects buoyant consumer sentiment and positive economic factors to fuel growth in the second half, too. He further said rural consumers are no longer looking to buy entry-level products. “Just as the case with urban consumers, rural ones, too, are also looking at value benefits, and this is evident from the fact that they are moving toward larger screen sizes.”
