Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd, a GMR-led consortium, has signed a land licence agreement with Airbus for setting up India’s first full flight simulator at the Aerocity Terminal District of Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Airbus will set up full flight simulator on the 1.11 acre of land to address the growing demand of trained pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers. Airbus will also establish its India headquarters within the same development.

The land licence agreement between DIAL and Airbus India is valid for up to March 31, 2036.

The flight training centre is being developed to meet the growing requirements of its customers at Delhi, a base for Air India, Indigo and Vistara.

A DIAL spokesperson in a statement said, “The Terminal District of Delhi Aerocity will see development of over two million square feet.”

This is the second significant transaction in Delhi Aerocity after the recent deal signed with Bharti Realty Holdings Ltd.

DIAL is putting together a plan for development of infrastructure for public amenities at Aerocity in an effort to increase the velocity of land monetisation.

DIAL had earlier awarded Bharti Realty Holdings Ltd land at Delhi Aerocity-Gateway District for the development of infrastructure and commercial hub. In this space, currently over 3,000 hotel rooms are operational and over 1,500 hotel rooms are under development that will get operational in a phased manner.

Apart from the hotels, the hospitality district showcases the Worldmark 1, 2 & 3 which is a premium office and retail development of about 1.1 million square feet by Bharti Group.
