The consumer electronics and durables major LG has emerged the most trusted brand amongst consumers, according to The Brand Trust Report 2015 .

Interestingly, Samsung (Mobile), which was ranked 379 last year, has taken the second spot as the most trusted brand.

LG was ranked 4th last year. Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony dropped one spot down to 3rd this year.

The salt-to-software behemoth Tata, ranked 4th , is the top Indian brand on the list, followed by other Indian conglomerates Bajaj (at the 6th spot) and Godrej (9th). Last year, Tata was the only domestic brand to make it to the top-10 list in the Brand Trust index. Bajaj was at 46, and Godrej was at 16 in the Brand Trust Report (BTR) 2014.

Trust matrix BTR – India Study 2015, fifth in the series, is the result of a research based on the proprietary 61-component Trust Matrix, conceived and conducted by TRA (formerly known as Trust Research Advisory), said N Chandramouli, CEO, TRA. According to him, the study is meant to assist business decisions and give brands insights on solutions to consumer behaviour.

TRA provides competitive intelligence reports mined from its 11-million data points on brand intangibles of 20,000 brands. Nokia comes in as the country’s 5th most trusted brand maintaining its position of last year. India’s most trusted footwear brand Bata is ranked 11th in the Brand Trust index.

Snakes and ladders The ‘taste of India’ Amul made a significant climb to be to the 12th place from 79 last year. This year, Chandramouli said, Amul leads the F&B segment, a category traditionally led by aerated drinks or chocolate brands in the past.

Amul is followed by the iconic personal technology brand Apple at 13, and Reliance is at 14.

The new entrants into the top 20 this year are Bajaj, Apple, Dell, Bata, Samsung (Mobile), Amul, Dabur and Airtel.
