Berger Paints India Ltd reported an over 11 per cent increase in standalone net profit to over Rs 73 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2014. Net profit (standalone) stood at Rs 65.65 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

During the period, standalone total income from operations too saw a 10.8 per cent increase to Rs 978 crore, as against the Rs 883 crore in the year-ago-period.

However, on a consolidated basis, net profit remained almost flat at Rs 82 crore (between Q3 of FY-15 and the same period last year); despite a near 9 per cent increase in total (consolidated) income from operations. Income from operations in the period under review stood at Rs 1,117 crore.

According to the company, income tax holiday period at two of its units at Jammu expired on March 31 thereby leading to an “increase in effective tax rate from about 28 per cent to more than 34 per cent”.
