Delhi-based Ahujasons Shawl Wale, which sells pashmina shawls, is taking its brand to overseas markets such as China and the UK by next year.

The 36-year old company, which opened its maiden store in Japan last year, is also in the process of setting up its own ecommerce platform.

Ahujasons retails high-end pashminas and mill-manufactured shawls, stoles and mufflers, ranging from ₹500 to ₹5 lakh. Pashmina is a textile derived from undercoat of fur from Himalayan goat.

“We plan to expand in the international market through the franchisee model. Our store in Tokyo has been well received,” Bhuvan Ahuja, Retail Head, Ahujasons, told Business Line . Ahujasons, which has two stores in the domestic markets, also plans to open 12 retail outlets in two years.

“All our products are legally safe to possess as the raw fibre is gathered through the shedding or shearing and no animal is harmed in the process,” Ahuja added. Asked if the retailer was looking at private equity infusion or getting listed for funds, Ahuja said the company is debt-free and currently not in need of any external capital.
